    1. What does the prologue reveal about the actions that have taken place before the play begins?
    The drama was begun after the fall of the two sons of Oedipus, Eteocles and Polyneices, and the flight of the defeated Argives.

    2. What is the setting of the play? Include time, place and mood or atmosphere.
    Time: daybreak on the morning.
    Place: an open space before the royal palace.
    Atmosphere: quite, grief, sorrow, and dibble.

    3. Who are the major characters as explained in the prologue’? How are they all related to Oedipus?
    Antigone and Ismene. They are the Daughters of Oedipus.

    4. Why does Creon refuse to bury Polyneices?
    Because Polynices, who came back from exile, and sought to consume utterly with fire the city of his fathers and the shrines of his fathers’ gods, sought to taste of kindred blood, and to lead the remnant into slavery.

    5. Why does Antigone insists upon burying her brother?
    Because her brother eteocle was buried properly, but another brother, polyneices, was unburried. King orders polyneices’ corpse to be unburried and let it torn by dogs and birds.

    6. What is the purpose of the chorus? Whose views do they represent?
    The chorus is purposed to make the story life and also as narrative at the drama. The chorus itself represents a wiseman or a person who can see the problem in many point of view, in this case the viewer or the people of thebes.

    7. What are the conflicts in this play? Are they resolved?
    The conflict is the prohibition of King that order the corpse of Polyneices must not be burried. The resolution is when Antigone, who is polyneices’ sister, decides to burry the corpse secretly. However, unfortunately, she is found by guard, and king decide to punish her.
    8. Who is Tiresias and why is he important to the plot?
    Teresias is the palace blind prophet, who tells Creon about an omen of his destiny. Teresias rule is very important in the plot, because his part is brought the story to the climax.
    9. What is the climax or turning point of the play?
    The climax is when Creon’s son, Heamon, decide to commit suicide.
    10. What is the underlying theme of this tragedy?
    Wisdom is the supreme part of happiness, and reverence towards the Gods must be inviolate. Punishment that is judged to someone must be taken wisely.
